December 23rd

It is December 23rd and I have started taking down the Christmas decorations that I only just put up last week.
You see I like to be ahead of the game.
And I have a few spare hours while Fia sleeps.
Sure I could be doing the laundry, mopping the floors, or loading the dishwasher but it makes more sense to put away the advent calendar and rip the wrapping paper off my kids doors.

You don't wrap your kids' doors in wrapping paper?

Anyways who said that you have to have a nativity scene out for the whole season?
I carry a nativity in my heart all year.

Which reminds me of a conversation I had with Liv:

Liv... why do we celebrate Jesus' birthday when he doesn't even live here?
Me... Well, Jesus should always be in your heart.
{some thinking}
Liv... Maybe if we coughed real hard we could get him out of there.

Which reminds me of a story Tal wrote for his Aunt Gretchen:Once there was a dinosaur his name was Freddy Fred.
He met a dinosaur her name was Gretchen.
She got a big nutcracker and killed Freddy Fred.

Which reminds me of a conversation Chad and I had:

Shortly after we laid down to go to sleep for the night I got caught somewhere between awake and asleep and startled awake.
Chad asked, "what was that?"
I sleepily said, "I slipped on some loose gravel and started to fall."
worried about my safety chad said, "well, be more careful next time."

Which makes me think that it is probably time to take down the Christmas lights outside.
I don't want to be that one neighbor with them still up mid-march after all.
